Zeiger issues statement after voting for operating budget

Rep. Hans Zeiger, R-Puyallup, voted in favor of the operating budget passed by the Legislature on Monday. He issued the following statement:
“The 2015-17 operating budget passed tonight is a great bipartisan outcome to long months of deliberation. The budget includes higher pay for teachers and state employees, kindergarten through third grade class-size reduction, funding for programs that benefit our most vulnerable, and significant reductions to college tuition for students and middle class families. The tuition reduction is historic — it will help thousands of Washingtonians for years to come. We were able to do all of this without reliance on a new carbon tax or capital gains tax.”
The budget passed the Senate, 38-10, and the House, 90-8. It now goes to the governor's desk for his signature.
