Zeiger releases statement on special session

Lawmakers plan to adjourn before Easter Sunday, but since they have been unable to reach an agreement on an operating budget and several other keys issues, Governor Christine Gregoire is expected to call a special session.

Rep. Hans Zeiger, R-Puyallup, today issued the following statement:

“I am very disappointed that the Legislature has not been able to complete its work on time. The people of our state expect us to balance the budget in 105 days. Our choices are difficult, but delaying won't make them easier. I hope the Legislature moves swiftly to finalize a budget that prioritizes K-12 education, public safety, and care for the most vulnerable while reforming government to bring it within our means.”

The special session is expected to cost up to $16,000 a day.
