Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I spent the week on the House floor voting on hundreds of bills. The deadline to pass bills that originate in the House of Representatives is Monday, March 7 at 5 p.m.

While many of the bills that make it to the floor are “good little bills” – common sense solutions to small issues, technical fixes and the like – many other bills are troubling. While our state is facing a multi-billion dollar deficit and a struggling economy, we continue to pass bills with costly burdens on businesses and taxpayers, steep fines against building contractors (House Bill 1701), and unusual employment regulations for new service contractors at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (House Bill 1832).

Telephone Town Hall

I am holding my first telephone town hall meeting on Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. The telephone town hall will last an hour. You can join the community conversation by calling toll-free 1-877-229-8493 and entering 17545. You can listen in, ask questions and take part in polls.

In-Person Town Hall

Rep. Bruce Dammeier and I are holding a town hall meeting on Saturday, March 12 in Puyallup. The event will be held at the downtown Puyallup Library from noon to 1 p.m. This will be a good opportunity to get your input on solving our budget crisis.

Sincerely,

Hans Zeiger
