Rep. Hans Zeiger takes oath of office in Olympia

Rep. Hans Zeiger, R-Puyallup, was sworn in as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives on Monday during the opening ceremonies of the 2011 Legislature.
“It is a great honor to serve the citizens of the 25th Legislative District,” Zeiger said. “We face some big challenges this legislative session. I look forward to working with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to move our state forward.
“The legislative process is a conversation, and I want to hear from constituents and their concerns. We will have to make budget cuts, but we need to do it intelligently,” Zeiger continued. “I believe we should focus first on our core commitments: K-12 education, care for our most vulnerable, and public safety.”
Zeiger will serve as the Assistant Ranking Minority Member on the House Capital Budget Committee. He will also serve on the Higher Education and Transportation Committees.
“The Capital Budget ties to state spending, economic growth, and job creation,” Zeiger said. “Transportation and traffic relief is very important to the 25th District, and I am pleased to serve on the Higher Education committee as we think about the future of our economy and education system in Washington state.”
Zeiger welcomes the comments and input from his constituents. His office number in Olympia is (360) 786-7968 and the Legislative Hotline number is 1-800-562-6000. Zeiger's mailing address is P.O. Box 40600, Olympia, WA 98504-0600 and his email address is hans.zeiger@leg.wa.gov.
The 105-day 2011 Legislative Session begins today and runs through April 24.
